8 Ideas For A Fall Wedding

Fall is one of our favorite seasons. Falling leaves, dropping temperatures, days that are still warm enough to enjoy, but chilly evenings, and clear night skies; there is just something romantic about fall. That is why we love fall weddings.

  1. If your wedding is going to be somewhere like New Jersey where leaves change color in the fall, take advantage of those gorgeous natural colors. Let those colors guide your wedding colors. Have your photographer take outdoor photos. Plan some part of your wedding or reception outside, if possible. In fact, a venue that has both indoor and outdoor accommodations is ideal in the fall, but you can always simulate that with rented tents at an outdoor venue.
  2. Incorporate fall drinks in your venue. There are so many craft brews and ciders that are only available in the summer; talk to your venue and caterer about making them available for your guests. Is the forecast for a chilly night? Plan on serving hot chocolate and coffee to help keep people warm.
  3. Use the flavors of the season. People joke that fall is now pumpkin spice season, but fall has long been known for its seasonal produce. Pumpkin, butternut squash, acorn squash; a harvest themed menu will not only taste like fall, but will also bring a fall color pallet to you plates.
  4. Use everything your venue has to offer. Many fall weddings are at great outdoor venues with things like corn mazes, hay rides, and even pumpkin’ chunkin’. While you and the wedding party are having your pictures done, it is a great time to let your guests explore the other opportunities the venue has to offer.
  5. Nothing says fall like a traditional Thanksgiving style meal; you might consider a turkey dinner with all of the fixings for your rehearsal dinner or even for your wedding meal!
  6. Add some seasonal flair to your photo booth pictures. If you are having an early fall wedding, especially if you have gone with a Halloween theme, you will probably want to add some Halloween props to your photo booth. Later fall weddings may want to think about pumpkins, hay bales, corn stalks; any type of background that signals the season.
  7. Talk to your DJ about adding seasonal flair to the venue and the dance floor with different lighting options.
  8. Think outside the cake. Fall is all about pie. Consider alternative desserts or at least alternative flavors when planning the wedding cake.
