Things to Consider While Hiring a Wedding DJ

Hiring a Wedding DJ

In one of our previous blogs, 10 Tips to Find the Perfect Wedding DJ, we go through some of the most important things to consider when hiring a wedding DJ. However, if you want to take a little more time to research different wedding DJs and wedding vendors in general, here are some beneficial ways to learn more about the wedding professionals you’re interested in. They may even be the deciding factor in your decision between two vendors.

Social Media

One of the best ways to research a particular wedding DJ is on social media. Here, you’ll be able to see more of the company’s work while getting a feel for their personality and style. Take note of how active they are on social media. If a company isn’t posting consistently or repeats the same material, it may mean that they’re not that busy and or don’t want to share what’s really happening at their events. When a company isn’t active, there’s usually a reason; therefore, you might want to stay away. Social media is the best way to see the most up-to-date content that a vendor shares.

Real Weddings

When considering entertainment for your wedding, it’s always great to experience the DJ live before hiring them, but that’s not always possible. Unless you’ve already seen the DJ you’re considering at a previous wedding, it’s probably difficult to watch them perform mainly because wedding showcases now are few and far between. Even if you get a chance to see a DJ company perform at a wedding showcase, it’s most likely a curated performance and not “The Real Wedding Experience.” When researching an entertainment company, ask them to see video footage of real weddings that they have performed at. These “Real Wedding Videos” should show you live footage of dance floors while including the actual audio the DJ is mixing live. A real wedding video may not be as exciting to watch as a “commercial type promo video,” but they are far more critical in the decision-making process because it tells the real story. Anyone can create a visually appealing video with dubbed audio, but videos like this often look a lot more fun than the event actually was. Watching a ” Real Wedding Video” is a more telling way to showcase how a particular DJ will have your guests dancing all night. This allows the viewer to hear the music they’re playing and watch the crowd’s reaction to the songs. Real Wedding videos are the closest way to watch a DJ live without crashing a wedding.
