Winter Wedding Inspiration

couple on dock during their wedding at Oyster Point Hotel in Red Bank

Geri and Jeffrey tied the knot on a chilly December day at the Oyster Point Hotel. This venue is surrounded by beautiful panoramic views of the Navesink River estuary. They went with a clean and simple look for their reception space with light blues hues and greenery. An elegant and classic winter wedding theme! Geri and Jeff included subtle hints of “Christmas,” like little bells and Merry Christmas signage. Geri’s mother made all the wooden signs, boxes, table numbers, and centerpieces for the wedding!! She cut and stained the wood and did the lettering herself. We love a good DIY! They even made a “destinations” sign with all of the places Geri and Jeffrey have lived together over the years. It was super cute!! And THE CUTEST of them all,  Jeffrey’s grandmother baked dozens of homemade cookies for their guests to enjoy during the reception. SO CUTE!!

Proposal Story Alert!

“We always said we wanted to get engaged by the end of 2019, so my suspicions rose as the year-end got closer. Jeff was doing a PT seasonal internship with the Cleveland Browns, so I would fly out every few weeks to visit. When I visited in early December, I was getting ready for our dinner reservation at his apartment… while he was finishing up at work. He came home from work with our favorite song playing and a pizza box from where we had our first date! (He had his friend from school ship the box to him). He had the ring inside the pizza box! Soon after, our families had come through the door as they were all planning to surprise me in Cleveland!”- Geri gushed.

Let’s talk about the details!

Geri and Jeffrey wanted a very simple and classic look. The details were so delicate and curated to have a wintery feel. Many shades of blue, ivory, and white were in the attire, details, and decoration. Geri had incorporated crystal silver pieces with her hair barrette and jewelry. Her bridal bouquet, designed by Flowerful Events, consisted of eucalyptus with white roses. It was classy, whimsical, and romantic. {Keep in mind: when choosing white florals, make sure they don’t pull yellow and they are the purest white you can get!!}

Geri had two heart pendants engraved with her grandparents’ handwriting. These charms were attached to her bouquet and were the perfect way to honor her loved ones that could not be there. Geri’s “something borrowed” was the wedding veil her sister wore on her wedding day. Which, fun fact, we had the honor of capturing as well.

When getting their hair styled by Anna Duffy of Annas Bridal Creations, the girls went with a variety of different looks. Geri had her wavy “Hollywood” hair styled big with a crystal barrette pinning some hair to the side. Her hair stayed perfect all day!! We took cutesy photos of the girls in their matching PJ sets on the bed, all before getting Geri in her Stella York wedding dress… and this dress is breathtaking!

They wanted a simple and classic, comfortable feel for their wedding day. Jeffrey loves navy, so when it came down to choosing a suit, he had to go with a Men’s Wearhouse navy-colored suit. His details were different shades of blues, brown suede shoes, and a silver watch. His light blue tie had a playful paisley pattern on it. The cufflinks he wore on his wedding day were something borrowed from his grandfather, who had worn them on his wedding day.

Wedding advice from Geri and Jeffrey:

“I think the biggest thing is not to get caught up on the little things that may go wrong leading up to the day and just focus on the bigger picture and why you are getting married! We both had issues a few days before the wedding with my dress needing alterations and his pants not fitting, which was very stressful at the moment. Still, it all worked out and was a perfect day!”

Congratulations, Geri and Jeffrey!! Thank you so much for choosing Limelight Entertainment to capture your special day. It was an honor to photograph your wedding day.
